The education requirements for the Appraiser Trainee are to complete 75 hours in the following three classes: Basic Appraisal Principles (30 hours), Basic Appraisal Procedures (30 hours), and the 15-Hour National USPAP Course (15 hours).
An Appraiser Trainee license may be active for a maximum of 4 renewal periods (8 years). After this time, the trainee must have completed all additional requirements for the Certified Residential or Certified General license.
In addition, an Appraiser Trainee must be supervised by a certified residential or certified general appraiser. A 4-hour Supervisor/Trainee course must be completed prior to the start of the apprenticeship.
